Future History of a Flat Earth
To follow on from my work “ Orrery of a Flat Earth ” that appeared at Counihan Gallery in 2012. I want to make a second work that explores a flat earth where wind turbines are ugly blights on the landscape, coal and oil are good for humanity and our leaders dine on raw onions because you can't trust that newfangled fire business.
The theme of “Science Friction” is being played out in a very real and damaging way by our political leaders. They seem like an educated bunch so who can tell if their behavior is purely greed based or if they really are a bunch of luddites. "Alister Karl keeps on pushing drawing in surprising directions and graphite can conduct electricity. So Karl has hooked up two batteries to a mix media drawing of a rocket adding a circuit board element, two LED lights and a small speaker." Black Mark,Science Friction @ Counihan Gallery, 2015 |
