Orrery of a flat earth

You might believe that the earth is an oblate spheroid and so might the rest of the world. But Alister Karl (with support from the Abott government) has set out to prove that the world is in-fact flat! Smashing the paradigm of a spherical Earth apart, the reality that we all live on a single plane or disk will be irrefutable proven. Undertaking the long voyage to discover that great waterfall and what lies beyond it. Taking us on a journey into the very familiar but certainly uncharted waters............There be monsters here.

The form of the work while mimicking the movement of a mechanical orrery (an orrery is a mechanical representation of the universe) also recreates the movement of a ship on a calm sea as the images float past the viewer.  The work hangs from the ceiling as a huge mobile that invites the viewer to walk amongst and interact with giving them the opportunity to experience the story in any order they like.  The intended order of the narrative is literally in the order of the planets and makes reference to exploring beyond the bounds of human knowledge and experience.
