In his work, Alister Karl takes us to a place of mythical quests and endless battles. Manipulating the iconography of Super Mario Bros, Karl slows down a lost moment in time, as if to capture it indefinitely and stretch it into eternity. His work plays with our sense of nostalgia and familiarity – fragmenting our memories and replacing them with a stylised, surreal version that questions the validity of our own recollections.
